ACT 1
scene 1: missing people
EXT. A DARK GLOOMY FOREST, A SMALL TOWN, 1975 — NIGHT
A faint sound of uneven breathing could be heard from a distance,
sounds of someone running and shuffling through dried leaves in a forest,
illuminated only by a bunch of fireflies and mysterious glowing mushrooms.
STRANGER 1
(panicking)
PLEASE! SOMEBODY!
another set of footsteps creeped closer to where the stranger
was panicking to get away. Finally,
the stranger tripped over a tree root and fell down. In desperation,
the stranger called out.
STRANGER 1
(desperately)
Look…can’t we just pretend this never happened?
I wouldn’t tell anyone what I saw! really! you gotta trust me! Please!
However, this didn't slow down whatever was approaching.
some maniacal laughter broke out and shortly after, no other sounds could be heard.
EXT. the scene cut to the present, 2005
An old 90’s song could be heard playing from the radio,
while a couple more sounds of someone washing the dishes clattering in the background.
Enters pip, coming down the stairs.
MATTHEW
slept well? You look like ass
PIP
Oh shut it, your sofa is as stiff as a rock.
MATTHEW
here, bacon egg and cheese, you need it
Pip sits down on the chair
PIP
(shifted to good mood)
oh thanks!
MATTHEW
pip, it’s noon already, have you even slept yet in the last 2 days?
And don’t blame my sofa, I know you can sleep through anything.
Our school camping trip speaks for itself.
PIP
rest can wait, chill out man, I already got plenty of rest yesterday from the bus ride
MATTHEW
now…remind me again why you’re here? I thought you’re at some fancy university in the city.
PIP
(eating the bacon egg and cheese)
oh I am! I just needed some inspiration on what topic to write my final thesis on
and what better way to find that motivation than in my old hometown!
Oh this is really good by the way! Nice cooking skills
MATTHEW
Don’t get used to it…and cut the crap pip, why not stay with your dad’s instead
PIP
Well, I didn’t want to bother him and besides…Aren’t you supposed to be glad an old friend came to visit
MATTHEW
…I don’t even know why I let you crash here
Matthew got up and grabbed his backpack hanging by the door
PIP
hey, where you goin’
MATTHEW
out
PIP
To class?
MATTHEW
Nowhere, by the way if you’re going out make sure to lock the door,
I left a key on the counter
PIP
you didn’t answer me
MATTHEW
it’s not important, and I already dropped out from college last month
PIP
wait, what? How did i not- Why didn’t you tell me?
MATTHEW
Do I need to report everything to you?
PIP
well if you’re not going to class then I’m coming with you
MATTHEW
no you’re not, didn’t you say you have plans on revisiting the town to gain some ‘inspiration’ or something?
PIP
oh right! I had to visit the police station this afternoon!
And it’s already after noon!!
MATTHEW
yeah…see you for dinner.
EXT. TOWN STREET
posters of a missing person could be seen hanging by street poles and blown away by the wind.
PIP
another missing kid?
